Undergraduate Opportunities

NASA opportunities are so extensive that I have removed them from this page and given them their own page.

American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) student groups:
If you are an undergraduate considering aerospace as a career, you may want to see if there is a student branch of the AIAA at your school: http://www.aiaa.org/content.cfm?pageid=212
AIAA has student conferences: http://www.aiaa.org/content.cfm?pageid=213
AIAA offers a student journal: http://www.aiaa.org/content.cfm?pageid=497

The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) undergraduate engineering design competitions, http://www.aiaa.org/content.cfm?pageid=210
There are several different competitions.

The American Helicopter Society sponsors an annual design competition for undergraduate and graduate students, http://www.vtol.org/awards/sdcomp.html
Although the tasks may be easier for students who are already in engineering departments, students who have not decided their majors may be able to join a team. Judging takes participants' level of education into account.

The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI)'s International Aerial Robotics Competition, http://iarc.angel-strike.com/index.php
Participating teams are challenged to solve a problem for flying robots that current technology has not been able to solve. According to the official rules, "Teams may be comprised of a combination of students, faculty, industrial partners, or government partners." However, each team must have some full-time students, and the students must make significant contributions to the project. Only students can receive cash prizes.

The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) Student Unmanned Air Systems (UAS) competition, http://65.210.16.57/studentcomp2010/default.html.
This competition gives high school and undergraduate students an opportunity to create an unmanned aerial vehicle.

Boeing's "Careers--Interns and Graduates" page, http://www.boeing.com/careers/collegecareers/.
This page gives information about what a career at Boeing may be like, and provides links to Boeing's internship opportunities (http://www.boeing.com/careers/collegecareers/internships.html

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) internships for undergraduate students, http://www.iata.org/hc/Pages/iip.aspx
The IATA represents over 200 airlines worldwide before decision-makers. It also forms some industry standards and streamlines international air travel. Internships for undergraduate students are located all over the world.
